The Costume Goddess' Gallery

XENA: Warrior Princess circa 1996
My very first convention costume. Hand made from suede, leather and sheet copper. I cut, shaped, and hammered all of this by hand.  All designs and patterns were drawn freehand. My husband (then boyfriend) taught me how to boil leather and hammer copper rivets for this costume.  The only think I didn't make were the boots, the sword, the scabbard (which my father made) and the chakram/frisbee (which I did paint).

Valkyrie Costume: This was another take on decorative metal armor.  More cutting and hammering with sodering and etching this time. Bunny fur around the edges makes it less lethal.  The headpiece was the most fun part of this costume.  The blue poly was just what I happened to have lying around to work with.
